Hybrids Finally Go Mainstream
Today there are more hybrid automobiles available than ever before. And really, Hybrids are just getting started.
Hybrid cars are perfect alternatives to their conventional gas-only siblings, and are typically priced just a couple thousand dollars higher. However, they deliver better fuel efficiency, they conserve natural resources, are easy on your pocketbook, and keep the air a little bit cleaner.
One implied benefit not be overlooked is convenience. With a Hybrid, you simply won't have to stop as much for gas as you used to, as these new hybrid cars go much farther on a single tank.
Hybrids are so energy efficient because they use electric power in addition to their gas engines. When idling, your gas motor will shut off to conserve energy. But you'll still have power because of the battery and electric motor on board.
Ford, Toyota and Honda all have Hybrid models. Ford just introduced a Hybrid version of the Escape mid-sized SUV. It's the first Hybrid built in America. No doubt you've already seen the Toyota Prius driving around town. Lexus has even introduced a Hybrid version of the RS 400 SUV that generates 270 horsepower and still gets over 27 MPG!
Want to know the most eye-popping Hybrid stat? The Honda Civic Hybrid can travel up to 650 miles on just one tank of gas!
It's projected that by 2008 there will be 30 Hybrid models available to the public. But for now, let's find the Hybrid model that's right for you!
